Doxology for Jack

JACK MORGAN

December 3, 2004 - January 5, 2018

12 1/2 years of perky loving long life.

6 months of steady, incremental decline

(Though loving disposition valiantly abided)

Not sure I can explain the coexistence, maybe even holy partnership, of deep grief and immense gratitude. I can only witness that the grace of the God of Jesus does not numb us but expands and supports our capacity for the exquisite hurts and joys of life.

There is no way Dianne and I could say one of us loves one of our kids more than the other of us does. So no way to say one of us loved Jack more than the other. But though I was always active in Jack care, it never was to the extent of Dianne's day in and out care of Jack...especially in these last six or so rugged months.

What's more, it was because of her love for me that she suggested we check out a litter of Labradoodle puppies in Hueytown on a chilly January day in 2005. So in this and countless other ways, my beyond words thanks to her.

In the meantime...

1. As a friend says, 'just hold us in your light.'

2. Hug your pup and kitties a bit extra.

3. For the pups and kitties in tough straights...

The only way to grieve less is to love one another less.

And that most of us are not willing to do.

Relentless Doxology to and through you and yours..
